BUILD A SOLID DIGITAL PAINTING FOUNDATION

This is the class for those who are newer to digital painting or just want good digital painting training.

   

Expert instructor Nino Vecia will guide you through the foundational art principles that underpin both illustration and concept art. You'll tackle a variety of digital painting subjects while learning the industry’s standard program, Adobe Photoshop.

   

You'll cover topics such as:

Making accurate sketches

Efficient shading techniques

Understanding blending modes

Basics of realistic material rendering

How to approach faces and landscapes

   

   

Paint-alongs are included throughout the lessons where you'll be guided by Nino in real-time in practicing the lesson's techniques so you'll be confident going into your assignments.

No prior digital painting experience is necessary but basic drawing skills is helpful as this is not a basic drawing class. If you've not received proper teaching on digital painting then we recommend taking this class before tackling any of our Intermediate classes.

PREPARATION

Time: Based on student feedback, this class requires a minimum of 10 hours to accomplish each lesson's assignments to a satisfactory level.

Setup: Students will need HD video streaming speed internet, Adobe Photoshop (or similar digital painting program), and a drawing pad and stylus (like Wacom or Gaomon). A microphone and webcam are also recommended if students plan on joining the Zoom lessons live for the feedback version.

PRICE & OPTIONS

This class is available for self-study (no instructor feedback) and with instructor feedback. Both versions use the same recorded lessons and class files. Instructors will be demonstrating in Adobe Photoshop, and all class files are in Photoshop compatible formats. Upon registering and creating a profile, lesson videos will be watchable on the site under My Courses after logging in.

    

Instructor feedback on your homework may be available at a premium rate during the seasonal classes. Spaces will be limited for feedback.
