A breakthrough occurs in an artist's work when they begin to think volumetrically. It had a big affect in work and I've seen it happen in many student's work. However, shifting from shape thinking to volume thinking (and understanding) isn't natural for most artists, but is crucial for achieving more realism. Most teachers gloss over this critical step which leads to students over-relying on details, fancy brushes, and perfect references to increase believability. The lessons and assignments in this course have been crafted to help you practice the key principles and reinforce the volumetric thinking that will lead to the same breakthrough in your work.
Once you have this, you can tackle anything.

CUSTOMER REVIEWS
"fantastic and a must do"
"This course is fantastic and a must do... week by week go up in complexity all the way to people and scenes. The best part for me was learning how to change the direction of the light and render it correctly, making me less dependent on the references. No more spending hours looking for a reference with the correct lighting."
Janine Pape
"level up your skills"
"The knowledge shared from the lessons and the instructors make this course great for those who are trying to level up your skills and understanding of how lighting and form work together."
Kyle Hernandez
"best online art school"
"This is the best online art school. I have completed several online art courses, but this art school surpasses all of them for the price it is. The teachers here love art and what they teach. But the best part for me is how honest the teachers are."
REALISM
The key to capturing realism, and painting believable imaginary subjects, isn't in the details. It's in the way you think about the volume of the subject, and how you shade that form to convey the depth and contours. It requires a more thorough understanding of both the behavior of lights, shadows, and awareness of the 3D form of the subject.
