Character portraits are a hireable industry skill and stepping stone to full character illustrations but many artists struggle to execute them at a professional level. In this class we'll start by covering the components, such as drawing the standard portrait and modifying reference, then pull together the lessons into two finished character portraits.

FAQ

Do I need prior digital painting experience? Yes, this course is designed on the assumption that participants already have familiarity with their digital painting program. Having basic drawing skills is helpful as this course is Intermediate level and does not cover basic drawing.

How much time do the lessons take to complete? Each lesson video is 35-55 minutes, and it should take 10-15 hours to adequately complete each of the 8 lesson assignments.

Do I have to use Photoshop, can I use a different program? While this course is designed to work best if the student uses Adobe Photoshop as their painting program, it can be completed in other programs as long as the chosen program can open and use PSD format. This may make the process more cumbersome than is necessary, but should be possible.
