Jump into character rendering with profile illustration
Overview: Character portraits are a great hireable industry skill and stepping stone to full character illustrations but many artists struggle to execute them at a professional level. In this class we'll start by covering the components, such as rendering skin and features, then pull together the lessons into a finished character portrait. Class will cover:
• Workflow for an illustratively realistic human character
• Rendering skin and skintones
• Proportions and forms of the head
• Creating a finished portrait for your portfolio
Lessons will feature completed images for examples, live demos and weekly assignments with feedback.
This class is listed as Intermediate difficulty, meaning that it is best if you already have foundational drawing and shading skills as they will not be covered. For a guide of the tiers, go here: Tier Examples
Experience with rendering people/characters is helpful but not required. This class is not recommended for complete beginners.
